La Roux, Bat for Lashes, and Dizzee Rascal Songs Nominated By Ivor Novello Awards For Best Contemporary Song

Nominations for the 55th Ivor Novello Awards, the UK's most prestigious songwriting awards, were announced yesterday. The nominees for Best Contemporary Song include La Roux Elly Jackson (pictured at right) and Ben Langmaid for their first UK hit "In for the Kill," Natasha Khan, aka Bat for Lashes, for "Daniel," and Dylan Mills and Armand Van Helden for writing Dizzee Rascal's hit "Bonkers."
Elsewhere among the nominations Lily Allen was nominated twice for Best Song Musically and Lyrically and for Music Most Performed for her hit "The Fear." Dizzee Rascal's music received an additional nomination for the Album Award for his collection Tongue n' Cheek. He will compete against Paolo Nutini's Sunny Side Up album. The Ivor Novello Awards are presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and PRS for Music.
